Royal Mustang Horse Riding Trek and Tour – 5 Days Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom and Horseback Riding Around Jomsom

Your adventure begins with an early morning flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, one of Nepal’s most scenic mountain flights. During the flight, enjoy magnificent views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and the world's deepest gorge, the Kali Gandaki Valley.

Upon arrival in Jomsom, you will meet your horse guide and receive a short riding orientation. Spend the afternoon riding around the beautiful surroundings of Jomsom, exploring traditional villages, apple orchards, and the unique landscapes of Mustang.

Day 2

Ride from Jomsom to Kagbeni

After breakfast, begin riding northward along the Kali Gandaki River toward Kagbeni. The trail follows a wide river valley surrounded by dramatic cliffs and barren hills that resemble the Tibetan Plateau.

Kagbeni is one of the most fascinating villages in Lower Mustang. Wander through its narrow alleyways, ancient mud-brick houses, and centuries-old monastery while enjoying breathtaking mountain views.

Day 3

Ride from Kagbeni to Muktinath

Today is the highlight of the trip. The trail climbs steadily through traditional Mustang villages such as Khingar and Jharkot before reaching the sacred site of Muktinath.

Muktinath is one of Nepal’s most important pilgrimage destinations. Explore the temple complex, eternal flame, monasteries, and the famous 108 water spouts. The surrounding mountain views are truly spectacular.

Day 4

Ride from Muktinath Back to Jomsom

Wake up to incredible Himalayan scenery before beginning your descent toward Jomsom. The downhill ride offers stunning views across the Kali Gandaki Valley and surrounding mountains.

Pass through traditional villages and enjoy the changing landscapes as you return to Jomsom for your final night in Mustang. Alternatively, you can also opt to cross Lupra pass (4,100m) and descend down to Lupra village before heading back down to Jomsom.

Day 5

Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara

After breakfast, transfer to Jomsom Airport for your morning flight back to Pokhara. Enjoy one last aerial view of the magnificent Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges before arriving in the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara.
