Enjoy the circle of giant peaks as you stand in the center of a natural amphitheater in the high Himalayas.

Day 4

Trek down from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2,310m)

Your day begins early. Wake up before dawn to catch the incredible sunrise over the Annapurna massif. After enjoying the magical sunrise, you will head for breakfast and begin your long descent. The journey takes you back along the familiar trails through Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Deurali, and Himalaya before settling in Bamboo.

Day 5

Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1,780m) via Chhomrong

Leaving Bamboo behind, you will ascend toward Sinuwa and descend to the Chhomrong Khola. Upon crossing the river, you will follow the stone steps back to the village of Chhomrong and head toward Jhinu Danda.

In Jhinu Danda, you can visit the riverside hot spring to relax and rejuvenate after a long and strenuous trek. You can spend the afternoon in the natural hot spring, known for its therapeutic properties. This is a perfect reward for your efforts over the past few days.

Essential Information

When is the best time for the Annapurna Base Camp trek in Nepal

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek in Nepal is a comprehensive experience of authentic Himalayan culture, lifestyle, and the serenity of raw nature. The best time for the Annapurna Base Camp trek is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November).

In autumn, you can expect crisp visibility offering crystal clear views of the Himalayan landscape and majestic mountains. This is also the peak trekking season in the Himalayas. Therefore, we recommend booking the trek in advance to secure your preferred logistical arrangements. Autumn provides stable weather conditions. The daytime temperatures remain suitable for trekking. However, evening temperatures can reach below freezing point, especially in the higher altitude regions.

Likewise, trekkers can experience the diverse vegetation, especially in the sub-tropical regions. The lush hills are covered in rhododendron and wildflower blossoms, giving travelers a sight to rejoice in. The temperatures remain moderate, making it the most colorful time in the Annapurna region.

How difficult is the 6 days Annapurna Base Camp trek in Nepal?

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is rated moderate. Though trekkers are required to tackle the high-altitude terrain and conditions, this trek does not reach the extreme altitudes like the Everest Base Camp Trek. However, the continuous ascent over the thousands of stone steps of the infamous “Annapurna Stairs” can present significant challenges.

Also, the 6-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a condensed trek. Contrary to the standard ABC journey, you will cover more ground in a short duration. Crucially, the second day requires a demanding 1,380-meter altitude gain from Upper Sinuwa to Deurali, which significantly increases the physical strain and altitude risks on this condensed schedule.

The rapid pace and the high-altitudes can cause Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) or altitude sickness. We recommend trekking at a steady but comfortable pace to manage the risks and symptoms of altitude sickness.

Who can go on the short Annapurna Base Camp trek in Nepal?

The 6 days Annapurna Base Camp trek is a short trek that requires physical and mental endurance. This trek is recommended for the following travelers:

  • Fit individuals who can take on the fast-paced ascents and descents over diverse terrain
  • Adventure seekers with limited time who want to experience a high-altitude trek in Nepal
  • Nature lovers who want to experience the raw form of the Himalayan landscapes, flora, and fauna
  • Photography enthusiasts looking for  close-up views of mighty 8000ers
