Your day begins early as you prepare to hike to the Kyanjin Ri (4,300 meters) or the high-altitude destination of Tsergo Ri (5,033 meters). The main goal of this hike is to practice the “climb high, sleep low” strategy. Upon completing your journey, you will retrace your steps back to your comfortable teahouse at Kyanjin Gompa.

Kutumsang

Today, you will take on another significant descent into the mid-hills of Helambu. The journey, however, begins with a mild ascent from Ghopte toward the flat rest areas of Thadepati. From Thadepati, prepare for a steady descent through dense forests and settlements before reaching the large Sherpa village of Kutumsanga.

Day 13

Trek from Kutumsang to Chisapani

Chisapani

The trek from Kutumsang to Chisapani is more relaxing compared to the high-alpine hikes. You will pass through small villages like Gul Bhanjyang and Chipling, where you will find local monasteries and schools. After a 6-7 hour hike, you will reach your overnight destination of Chisapani. Essential Information

Best Time for the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek

Choosing the best season for the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek ensures a memorable trek with the utmost safety. This trek includes the high-altitude Laurebina Pass, which demands stable weather and clear visibility for a comfortable journey.

Autumn (September to November) is considered the best time for the Langtang Gosainkunda Trek as this post-monsoon season brings clear skies and warm daytime temperatures. The chances of rainfall are significantly lower. Moreover, as this season offers crisp visibility, you can find uninterrupted views of the mountains from Kyanjin Ri, Laurebina Pass, and Chisapani.

After autumn, spring (March to May) is another excellent time for the Langtang and Gosaikunda Trek. The temperatures are pleasant with extended daylight hours. In the lower sub-tropical regions, you will find abundant rhododendron and wildlife blossoms. The skies are typically clear, but the pre-monsoon haze can occasionally disrupt distant views.

Nepal Langtang Gosainkunda Trek Difficulty

The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is a moderate to challenging journey across the diverse Himalayan terrain. In the initial days at Langtang Valley, you will take on steady ascents leading to the highest altitude point of Laurebina Pass (4,610 meters). Though most treks last 5 to 7 hours daily, you should be prepared for long days, which can last up to 8 hours of strenuous ascents and descents. Compared to the Everest Base Camp Trek and Manaslu Circuit Trek, this trek does not cross the 5,000-meter threshold. However, you should still adhere to the acclimatization protocol to reduce the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) or altitude sickness during this 15-day trek.
