Arrival in Kathmandu | Transfer to Hotel

Welcome to Nepal

Your Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilocho Lake begins upon arrival in Kathmandu. In the Tribhuvan International Airport, our representatives will welcome you and help transfer you to your hotel in the tourist district of Thamel. Upon checking into your hotel, take some time to relax and unwind. In the evening, you can explore the vibrant markets or head out to one of many lively bars or restaurants to enjoy your first evening in Kathmandu.

Day 2

Drive from Kathmandu to Chame (2,670m) via Besisahar

Leaving Taal

Your day begins with a scenic drive across the winding highway. The morning drive takes you along the Trishuli and Marshyangdi Rivers. As you approach Chame, you will leave behind the paved roads and take on the adventurous off-road tracks.

Upon reaching Chame, the district administrative headquarter of Manang, you can rest and explore the nearby villages. Enjoy the first clear views of Lamjung and Annapurna II from your overnight destination.

Day 3

Trek from Chame to Upper Pisang (3,300m)

Upper Pisang

Today, you will hit the Annapurna Circuit trails, officially beginning your trek. The journey takes you along the Marshyangdi riverbank through pine and rhododendron forests. You will cross several suspension bridges and encounter the massive curved rock face of the Paungda Danda. From here, the trail goes uphill toward Upper Pisang. As the altitude increases, you will experience the vegetation thinning.

A 5 to 6-hourtrek then takes you to the traditional village of Upper Pisang, offering spectacular views of the Annapurna peak.

Day 4

Trek from Upper Pisang to Manang (3,540) via Ghyaru and Ngawal (3,660m)

Ngawal

From Pisang, you will head to Manang through the upper Ghyaru route. This route gives you panoramic views of the Annapurna massif and the incredible Manang valley. Manang lies in the rainshadow region of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. The terrain is dry, and you will find windswept cliffs and landscapes resembling the Tibetan plateau.

Along the trail, you can visit ancient Buddhist monasteries and pass through the historical village of Bragha. Finally, you will reach your destination, where you will spend an additional day for acclimatization.

Day 5

Acclimatization day in Manang | Hike to Chongkor Viewpoint (3,751m)

Manang

Today’s itinerary is dedicated to acclimatization. Acclimatization is crucial while traveling in the high-altitude Himalayan region. This helps minimize the risks of altitude sickness, ensuring a safe and memorable journey.

As a part of the acclimatization process, you will spend the day hiking to the turquoise Gangapurna Lake. Alternatively, you can ascend to the Chongkor Viewpoint to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery, mountain massifs, and landscapes.

Day 6

Trek from Manang to Tilicho Base Camp (4,200m)

Tilicho Base Camp

Today, you will divert from the main Annapurna Circuit trail and head to the remote Tilicho Lake. The journey takes you through the charming Khangsar village. Upon reaching Khangsar, you will prepare for an ascent over rugged terrain comprising adventurous cliff trails. This trek takes you to a significantly higher altitude, into the physically demanding “Landslide Area.”

Upon crossing the infamous zone, you will reach Tilicho Base Camp, where you will spend the night surrounded by a natural amphitheater.

Pro tip: Keep your cameras ready to capture the “Ghosts” of Tilicho on the gray scree slopes between Sri Kharka and Tilicho Base Camp. If luck is by your side, you will spot Himalayan Blue Sheep (Naur) grazing on the steep slopes or even the elusive Snow Leopard. These animals are masters at camouflage; watch out for movement rather than color.

Day 7

Trek from Tilicho Base Camp to Tilicho Lake (4,919m) and back to Shree Kharka (3,870m)

Tilicho Lake

The journey to the serene Tilicho Lake begins early in the morning. You will continue the strenuous trek to one of the world’s highest lakes and find yourself standing in front of the deep waters reflecting the massive Tilicho Peak and the “Great Barrier.”

Capture the golden moments before heading back to Shree Kharka to spend the night.

Day 8

Trek from Shree Kharka to Churi Letdar (4,200m)

Letdar

You will rejoin the iconic Annapurna Circuit trails and head toward Churi Letdar. During today’s trek, you will find breathtaking views of the mountainous terrain as you make your way through rolling hills and cross several small streams. This part of the trail is also known for the elusive wildlife encounters.

Day 9

Trek from Churi Letdar to Thorong High Camp (4,880m) via Thorong Phedi/Low Camp (4,450m)

Thorong High Camp

Today’s trek is shorter but sets you up for the Thorong La Pass ascent. The trek begins with a steady climb along the banks of Jarsang Khola. The trail leads you to Thorong Phedi, where you will experience an alpine environment with little vegetation. And after lunch, you will continue your trek towards High Camp.

Check into your teahouse and prepare to take on the challenging Thorong La Pass pre-dawn ascent.

Day 10

Trek from High Camp to Muktinath (3,800m) via Thorong La Pass (5,416m)

Thorong La Halfway

You have come to the most challenging, yet rewarding, part of the trek. The journey begins before sunrise along the steep trails leading you to the summit of the Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters). This is the highest point of the trek, and reaching the top of the Thorong La Pass also provides a sensory explosion and a spiritual experience. You will likely find the earthy scent of burning juniper by the fluttering prayer flags. Join Nature Lovers Treks and Tours' guides in the sacred Juniper Ritual at 5,416 meters, thanking the mountain gods for a safe ascent amid the panoramic Himalayan landscape.

After spending some time at the summit, you will descend toward the Kali Gandaki Valley, eventually reaching the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath.

Day 11

Drive from Muktinath to Pokhara (822m) via Jomsom

Muktinath

Your Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake adventure concludes with a drive from the spiritual pilgrimage of Muktinath to Pokhara Lakeside. The journey takes you through deep gorges, the Kali Gandaki River, and across towns like Jomsom and Lete. As you journey toward Pokhara, you will find the terrain transitions into lush hills. In Pokhara, you will be dropped at your hotel, where you can relax and enjoy luxurious amenities like a comfortable, warm shower.

Day 12

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu

Please be ready in the hotel lobby by 6:00 AM for breakfast and a briefing with your guide. You will either drive back to Kathmandu (around 7 hours, depending on road conditions) or take a scenic 30-minute flight from Pokhara at an additional cost, which offers beautiful views of the Himalayas, hills, and countryside.

Essential Information

When is the best time for the Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake in 2026/2027?

Trekking the Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake is a high-altitude adventure. Spring (March to May) and Autumn to early Winter (September to December) are the best seasons for this Himalayan adventure. In autumn, you will find the most stable weather and clearest visibility. This post-monsoon season brings less rainfall, making the Thorong La Pass crossing more manageable. The daytime temperatures are pleasant, but the high pass regions can reach below freezing points at night.

Spring, on the other hand, comes alive with rhododendron and wildflower blossoms. The weather is mostly warm with increased daylight hours. There are chances of afternoon clouds, but morning hours are ideal for experiencing breathtaking views of the “Great Barrier” near Tilicho Lake, and the iconic Himalayan vistas.

Watchout for the harsh Himalayan winter. The higher altitude trails remain mostly closed with high chances of weather-related injuries or casualties. In late 2025, an intense rescue operation had to be conducted by the Nepal Army (New Bhairabdal Battalion) in Manang to rescue 1,500 people, including 200 foreigners. Over 50 deaths were reported in the region.

Safety Note:Trek with full confidence. We continuously monitor weather conditions and follow your progress throughout the trek, staying in constant communication with your guide to ensure your safety.

How difficult is the 13-day Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake in Nepal?

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is a challenging journey. On this condensed trek, you will take on high-altitude challenges and cross the 5,416-meter Thorong La Pass. Compared to the standard Annapurna Circuit trek, you will cover more ground and require longer walking hours (up to 10 hours). Additionally, the high-altitude environment can be demanding for some travelers.

Due to these challenges, there is a risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) or altitude sickness. However, our itinerary is designed to mitigate the risks of altitude sickness. Our travel experts have included a one-day non-negotiable acclimatization day in Manang. Likewise, our guides navigate the way at a steady but comfortable pace.

Who can go on the 13-day Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake?

The Nepal Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake 2026/202 is a high-impact journey recommended for the following travelers:

  • Fit individuals who can take on the demanding ascents and high-altitude crossings over diverse terrain.
