Essential Information

When is the best time for the Chitwan National Park Tour?

Exploring Chitwan is possible all-year round. However, depending on the seasons, you will find differences in your experience. The best time for wildlife viewing is from October to March. During these months, you will find clear skies with pleasant weather. Moreover, in January and February, the visibility is increased as the locals cut the tall elephant grass. This is a good time for spotting rhinos and other wild animals.

Spring (March to May) is equally excellent, but expect the temperatures to rise significantly. This is a great time for bird watching. The resident birds are most active during the breeding plumage. Meanwhile, Monsoon (June to August) brings heavy rainfall. You will find the park lush and green, but some tracks may be closed. Also, since the height of the tall grasses increases dramatically, wildlife spotting during the monsoon months can be difficult.
