“TOGETHER, LETS SAVE THE SNOW LEOPARD BEFORE THEY ARE GONE FOREVER”

Nature Lovers Treks and Tours expresses a massive pleasure in promoting the unique experience and adventure of tracking the beautiful Himalayan creature ‘Snow Leopard’ in and around the Manang valley, including Nar Phu Valley within the Annapurna range. We are collaborating with highly field experts and conservationists who have been working on researching and conserving the habitats of rare and endangered Snow Leopards for decades now. Snow Leopard tracking trip is more than just a regular animal observation. It’s highly about creating awareness among the mass about the existence of this beautiful Himalayan treasure, finding ways to protect their habitat and their number while also benefitting the local economy directly with our journey and contributing to sustainable tourism.

Manang Valley, the crucial part of the Annapurna Circuit trail, is a rich valley if one explores deep inside, not only in terms of natural beauty but also in terms of its rich biodiversity, floras and faunas. Lying in the rain shadow of the Annapurna Himalayan ranges, Manang has an average annual rainfall of only 398 mm. Below 4800 m, there are interspersed shrubs like vegetation, including Juniperus species, Caragana species, Ephedra species, Lonicera species, etc. Above 4800 m, the vegetation becomes scarce and includes Rhododendron species, Saxifraga species, etc. The snow leopard, golden jackal, red fox, wolves, blue sheep, musk deer, pallas’s cat, beech marten, mountain weasel, royle’s pika, large-eared pika, Alticola species, etc., are the animals found in this region. Similarly, the Himalayan vulture, Bearded vulture, Golden eagle, Tibetan snow cock, Himalayan snow cock, Chukar, etc., are the birds found in Manang valley.

Similarly, Nar Phu Valley is also home to abundant floras and faunas. Especially, Nar Phu is the haven for the elusive Snow Leopard. The snow leopard’s density is 6 individuals per 100 square km, and the blue sheep’s density is 8 individuals per square km in the valley, which means the chances of seeing and encountering the snow leopard is 90%, the highest probability in the whole country. The precious Snow Leopard can also be found in other famous or isolated Himalayan lands like Dolpo, Dolakha and Kanchenjunga, but only in small numbers.

Tracking journey of a snow leopard in the Annapurna region is a beautiful heartbeat-stopping trek journey in the Nepal Himalayas which is a rare kind of adventure in itself. Only been introduced for a few years now with the help of conservationists and the nature lovers like ourselves, this Snow Leopard tracking trek leads you to the pristine land of the Snow Leopard and lets you see the excellent habitat, movements, livelihood and beautiful animal itself.
