Shuklaphanta National Park wildlife tour is an amazing wildlife tour to one of the nation’s protected national parks in Nepal which got its status of National Park in 2017 from Wildlife Reserve status by the government of Nepal. One of the major and critical habitats of abundant wild lives, Shuklaphanta is slowly being recognized by the visitors from all around the world.

Shuklaphanta National Park is a protected area in the Far-Western Terai Region of Nepal. The National Park covers the total area of 305 square km of open grassland, forests, rivers and tropical wetlands at an elevation of 174m to 1386m. The name Shuklaphanta is derived from one of the grasslands found in this reservation area. The area was a favorite hunting ground for Nepal's ruling class so it was named Royal Hunting Reserve in 1969 which became a Wildlife Reserve in 1973. So, it has largest number of Swamp deer numbering around 2000 currently with different other animals like Royal Bengal Tigers, rare one horned rhinos, Crocodiles, Leopards, wild Elephants as well as large numbers of migratory birds. According to a report, the national park shelters 423 species of bird, 46 species of mammals, among which 18 are protected under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species). The National Park also shares boundary with the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh in the south. The Mahakali River flowing from this region is named as Sarda River in India which provides major tributary of the Ganges (in India). The rivers, lakes and ponds of this region contains 28 species of fish, 12 reptile and amphibian species which are recorded currently which includes mahseer and rohu, mugger crocodile, Indian rock python, monitor lizard, Indian cobra, common krait, Oriental rat snake, etc.

Vegetation and Climate in Shuklaphanta National Park

The park contains some 700 species of flora including 553 vascular plants, 18 pteridophytes, 410 dicots and 125 monocots. Grassland constitutes almost half of the reserve's vegetation with dominant forest with different types of Sal. Khair and Sissoo are also found in great numbers which grows mostly alongside the rivers.

The climate of the region is subtropical monsoonal. The rainfall mostly occurs from the month of June to September and highest in August. The winter are fairly cold with daytime temperatures ranging from 7 to 12°C and February onwards, temperatures rises from 25 to 42°C by the end of April.

Day 01: Flight from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi and drive to Kanchanpur at Suklaphanta National Park, BLD, Resort.

After early morning wake up and refreshment with delightful breakfast, we drive to the airport to catch a flight for Dhangadhi.  After landing in airport, we head towards Suklaphanta National Park. After we reach in Suklaphanta national park, we enjoy the sight of a glorious sunset. Overnight stay at the resort.

Day 02: Shuklaphanta wildlife tour DAY 1, BLD, Resort.

In the first exploring day, we will go for jeep safari inside Suklaphanta National Park after breakfast in the resort. We will fully explore the conserved flora, fauna and wildlife inside the park as national park shelters 423 species of bird, 46 species of mammals, among which 18 are protected under CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species). We will witness some of the most beautiful and endangered animals like Royal Bengal Tiger, rare One-Horned Rhino, Leopards, sloth bear, swamp deer, wild elephants and hispid hare. Overnight at the resort.

Day 03: Shuklaphanta wildlife tour DAY 2, BLD, Resort.

In the early morning, you will observe the sunrise view from the same resort. Then we take a breakfast and head for a walk around the jungle where we explore different species of birds, flora and fauna following which we visit some of the grasslands and wetlands of the park. You will get a glimpse of swamp deer and other animals there in grasslands. Then we head towards the Tharu village and explore their cultures and traditions closely. In the evening, we also get to watch cultural dance of Tharu community and then we return back to the resort.

Day 04: Drive to Dhangadhi and fly back to Kathmandu, BLD.

We take our breakfast and then drive towards Dhangadhi. After arriving in Dhangadhi, we take our flight back to Kathmandu and have rest. Farewell dinner will be served in the evening.
